Ezra 4:1-24 even win the game.
Here we’ll see the enemy place them in check a couple times…but let’s see how the game ends up.
Chapter 4 is a little hard to follow because it doesn’t flow exactly chronologically.
4:1-5 & 4:24-6:22 flow as one unit, describing the building of the temple from its beginning with king Cyrus to its completion under king Darius.
So basically 4:6-23 is inserted to describe future hostility against the returnees, who tried to rebuild the
Ezra 4:1-24 even win the game.
Here we’ll see the enemy place them in check a couple times…but let’s see how the game ends up.

His daughter...his only child...the one who danced with joy at daddy coming

Didn’t deny the faith, even during persecution –
They held to their faith even when it might have cost them their lives!
“Faith” - Heb.11:32-35a - “Some By Faith subdued kingdoms & escaped the edge of the sword.”
Heb.11:35b-38 – “Others, Through Faith were tortured & slain w/the sword.”
Heb.11:39 - “All these obtained a good testimony through
2 Samuel 4:1-12 our assassination plot, regarding Mephibosheth, Jonathan’s son, who becomes crippled when he is accidentally dropped by his nurse as she flees from the Philistines.
We’ll meet Mephibosheth again in ch.9.
THE ASSASSINATION! (5-7)

The 2 brothers bring the severed head of Ishbosheth to David, hoping to be rewarded, or I guess you can say they were just trying to get ahead! :)
What terrible things people do in the name
