Leviticus 5 overview
Intro:
We’ll follow the lead of the Hebrew bible which numbers ch. 5 right through to 6:7. (e.g. 6:1 = 5:20 etc.)
Sin Offering deals w/the fact we are sinners by nature.
It emphasizes the sin committed.
Trespass Offering deals w/individual acts of sin.
It emphasizes the harm done by the transgressor.

[4] Offer a new burnt offering unto the Lord.
The daily service was 2 lambs, 1 offered at sunrise & the other at evening.
[5] Keep our hearts flame burning perpetually.
Wood was provided for the fire at the expense of the congregation.
Body Life! (team work – unity)
Fire always burning (3 x’s). This fire originated from God (see
Leviticus 6:8-30 the gift of God which is in you” {i.e. “stir up the flame again in your life!”}

Intro:
12:1-5 was Jeremiah’s Prayer. 12:6-17 was God’s response!
Jeremiah was going through his theological crisis!(12:1,4)
Then God answered (5-17)

vs.17 – God doesn’t usually strike someone dead in such a dramatic fashion.

Prov.20:25 “It is a snare for a man to devote rashly something as holy, And afterward to reconsider his vows.”
Remember Acts 5 with Ananias & Sapphira his wife, when they sold a possession.
Eccl.5:4,5 When you make a vow to God, do not delay

The wrath of God is an all consuming fire!
Nevertheless, it need not touch those who are covered by the Lord Jesus Christ. There is refuge in Him.
The full wrath of God is revealed at 2 points of history: at
Joel 3:1-21
