THE ASSURING LIFE! (5-13)
(5,6) Day & Night! – Terror by night, because we are naturally apprehensive in the dark, or because the night exposes us to danger of different kinds. Our fears magnify any sound or disturbance in the night, “what was that?”
What
Psalms 91:1-16 deserting his people in the time of their need.

Isaiah 45:1-25 announced it hundreds of years before it happened.
(3) God blesses Cyrus w/wealth of the conquered nations.
(4a) God blesses Cyrus because of Israel. {Israel’s Emancipation!}
(4b) God gives Cyrus a special name & title of honor.
(5) God can use unbelievers for His bidding.
(6,7) God empowers Cyrus so all will recognize the Lord, who brings both blessing & calamity.
He is simply a tool/instrument in the hands of God!
Q: Who is “the Cyrus” in your life that

LEARN FROM ME! (50:1-11)
DIVORCE! (1-3)
Israel was married to Jehovah; she turned to idols committing spiritual adultery; so He “put her away”(divorce, or separation?); & sold her into slavery(Babylon).
Q: Did He divorce her, or just separate

No Excuse for Sin! (1-6)
Vs.1 – Most people want to stop crying. Jeremiah wanted a head full of water to weep more!
So burdened was he for his people.
Vs.2 – The easiest thing to do would have been to escape.
Ps.55:6,7 “So I said, "Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. Indeed, I would wander far off, And remain in the wilderness. Selah”
However, like a true shepherd, he stayed with his people.
Vs.3 –
Joel 2:28-32 Sanctifies us; Illuminates us; Baptizes us; & He brings us Comfort!
Q: How much time do you give in thinking about the H.S.?
Q: How about thanking Him for all He has done or is doing in your life?(I know not to pray to him per se)
Read Rom.5:5 – Poured!
The Holy Spirit didn’t use an “Eye Dropper”, He didn’t use “tweezers” to put agape love in our hearts, but some God sized Pouring device!
Amos 5:1-27 poem mourning someone’s death.
(2) Imagery - Israel thought she was still a lovely Virgin, but she was only a fallen corpse…left to rot.
Yet, God’s gracious invitation still goes out vs.4!

In living the authentic Christian life you need both to be Forewarned & to give forewarning, to other saints following after you.

TIMOTHY’S VISIT (1-5)
(1) No longer endure it - what? goes back to vs.17.
Left alone in Athens - Paul, Timothy & Silas are in Berea. He dispatches Silas most likely to Philippi; Timothy goes to Thessalonica; & Paul heads to Athens alone.

Israel’s first Civil War.
(2) Their intent...to take official action against the men of Gibeah.
One of the few encouraging things in the whole story...that the country comes together united in heart & mind (as one man), to deliver Justice.
(5) The Levite condemned the men, but exonerated himself. He said nothing of his own complicity in the tragedy.
(8) As one man - really? an unexpected phrase here, given the disunity amongst the tribes.
It’s ironic, that in the last episode

2 Peter 2:1-11 apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. 2 Cor.11:13-15
Christianity has always been plagued by false teachers & false teachings.
This chapter talk about those that were among them. The Infiltrators!
Define terms:
Apostate: professed believers who deliberately rejects revealed
1 John 3:1-15 Father who loves you & has a wonderful future planned for you (1-3).
Deliberate sin grieves the Savior who died for you & delivered you from the power of Satan (4-8).
Deliberate sin grieves the Holy Spirit who lives in you & gave you new birth (9-15).
