I like 1 Cor.16:13, Paul’s final exhortation to the Corinthians, Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done w/love.
5 Imperatives:
Sounds like military orders from a Commander to his Subordinates. [Watch, Stand Fast, Be Brave, Be Strong, & Love]
Watch – Be ever on alert. Keep staying awake.
Be on alert for our enemy. Be on alert for sin.

How do you battle fears, insecurities, frustrations with others? Lets hear from David.

Here, an old man reviews the past (25) & gives us some wise counsel to keep us from second guessing God, when things just aren't going our way.
David had battled with evil men. David knew the frustration of seeing the wicked prosper & the righteous suffer.

No Excuse for Sin! (1-6)
Vs.1 – Most people want to stop crying. Jeremiah wanted a head full of water to weep more!
So burdened was he for his people.
Vs.2 – The easiest thing to do would have been to escape.
Ps.55:6,7 “So I said, "Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. Indeed, I would wander far off, And remain in the wilderness. Selah”
However, like a true shepherd, he stayed with his people.
Vs.3 –
Ezekiel 13:1-23 – i.e. scavengers.
Instead of being shepherds who faithfully led the flock, they were Jackals living on refuse.
Spiritually speaking, the false prophets were religious scavengers, living among ruins they had made themselves.
(5) The false prophets had not gone up to the breaks in the wall to repair it.
Israel’s moral walls were ready to collapse, but the false prophets did nothing to help.

Bethsaida - Home of Peter, & Andrew, James, & John. (still in ruins today)
Capernaum - Exalted to heaven in that...heaven came & dwelt there.
Remember 5 out of 10 miracles in ch’s 8 & 9 were performed in Capernaum (including raising of Jairus’ daughter). [the brighter the light the greater the responsibility]
Yet, her Greater Privileges brought Greater Responsibility, & thus Greater Judgment.
Matthew 20:1-16 privilege to be allowed to begin holy service so early in the morning.
Denarius - A Roman silver coin, worth a laborers days wage. (size/dime)

So, there were actually 2 categories of workers: those who demanded a contract & those who had or needed no contract.
The 2nd group we commend for sticking it out

And right in the middle of Jesus teaching the word we are interrupted with a divine distraction(see vs.3)...Then they came! Who? What?

A Paralytic – Life for him was pretty much reduced to a horizontal one.
No Assisted Living like Murrieta Gardens down the street. No skilled nursing facility like Country Villa on the
Luke 16:1-13 spread gossip about him, or spy on him so they could report it to their master.
No longer be steward – you’re fired!
Individual accountability to God:
Rom.14:12 “each of us shall give account of himself to God.”
2 Cor.5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”
All that we have comes from the Lord and must be used for the good

Hesed דֶסֶחcould & should be translated “Grace”.
