1 Kings 16:1-34 exterior waves of life, but we can’t control what’s inside us.
I like 1 Cor.16:13, Paul’s final exhortation to the Corinthians, Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done w/love.
5 Imperatives:
Sounds like military orders from a Commander to his Subordinates. [Watch, Stand Fast, Be Brave, Be Strong, & Love]
Watch – Be ever on alert. Keep staying awake.
Be on alert for our enemy. Be on alert for sin.
Stand

Of course the watchman in the watchtower was responsible to warn the city of approaching danger.
Just as we are to be watchmen today! What is our warning?

Here we get a Glimpse of Jesus’ Glory. This whole story is about GLORY.
Note, Behold or look/see used twice in vs.3 & 5. As if Matthew couldn’t even tell the story w/o stopping to catch his breath...at the sheer staggering wonder of it.
3 disciples get to catch a glimpse of the intersection between heaven & earth, as they observe Jesus in His heavenly glory.

I wouldn’t have answered the way Jesus did here…which reminds me to pray before I answer. So, the H.S. can direct with His answer, & not my pat answer!

Lawyer – a specialist in Jewish Law. (both written & oral Torah)

They had asked, What does this mean?(12), & now they were about to know!
(15) Drunk? - This was no Distilled Spirits; this was none other than The H.S.!
(17-21) Overview: The last days(17) means that period of time between Jesus’ 1st

What if an older lady is complaining? How do we handle her complaints?
What about benevolence? “I once heard about a person/couple that the church didn’t help, they just sent them away?”

David sends ambassadors to express his sympathy to Hanun, king of the Ammonites, whose father recently died. Hanun’s father had been loyal to David.
So to express sympathy, & to affirm the covenant between the two.
RIDICULE! (3-5)
(3) “These are not ambassadors but military spies!”
Hanun’s counselors were suspicious of David.
They questioned his motives.
They probably judged David on the basis of what they would have done!
Unfortunately once
