Exodus 17:3 ASESINATOS

Ezekiel 3:7
EZEKIEL’S MINISTRY AND OURS
‘The house of Israel will not hearken unto thee.’
Ezekiel 3:7
‘Seeing we have this ministry … we faint not.’
2 Corinthians 4:1
I. What is the nature of the Christian ministry?—Thank God, it is a very blessed one. It is the ministry of the New Testament, a ministry not of condemnation and death, but of restoration and life. Our commission is not to proclaim wrath and destruction,
Ezekiel 34:8 selfish ends. But the statements made by the prophet may be rightly applied to rapacious priests, who care more for the fleece than for the flock. Pastors are required to feed the flock of God, not for fifthy lucre, but as ensamples for the sheep ( 1 Peter 5:2-3). It is their duty also to strengthen the spiritually diseased, heal the sick, bind up the broken in heart, and seek the lost.’
Daniel 2:1
TROUBLED KING—CALM SEER
‘Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams … Daniel sat in the gate of the king.’
Daniel 2:1; Daniel 2:49
The lessons of the chapter are—
I. God in human life.—Nebuchadnezzar was an idolater, and although he was ready to ascribe great distinction to Daniel’s God, yet he never became a believer. For all that He that revealeth secrets maketh
Daniel 2:49
TROUBLED KING—CALM SEER
‘Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams … Daniel sat in the gate of the king.’
Daniel 2:1; Daniel 2:49
The lessons of the chapter are—
I. God in human life.—Nebuchadnezzar was an idolater, and although he was ready to ascribe great distinction to Daniel’s God, yet he never became a believer. For all that He that revealeth secrets maketh
Hosea 4:1
A TERRIBLE INDICTMENT
‘The Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land.’
Hosea 4:1
I. Abandoning the parabolic style, the prophet now turns to very straight and incisive dealing with the sins of Israel.—This chapter contains a terrible indictment against the chosen people. There was no truth, mercy, nor knowledge of God among them;
Joel 1:15
A DAY OF JUDGMENT
‘The day of the Lord is at hand.’
Joel 1:15
In the first two chapters Joel foretells, under the figure of an army, a most terrible plague of locusts. The palmer-worm, locust, cankerworm, and caterpillar are believed to have been locusts in four different stages, rather than different insects.
Matthew 18:1
WHO IS THE GREATEST?
‘At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’
Matthew 18:1
Three times over during the closing weeks of our Lord’s life do we find this strange strife. Let us look upon these three occasions and learn lessons from them.
I. Spiritual envy.—Our text relates to the first occasion. Our Lord has just taken
Matthew 26:38 to prayer—He returned a third time to His Father. O blessed lesson He would thus teach us! We shall find in prayer all, and infinitely more, than we sought, and failed to find, in the holy watchers around us.
—Dr. Octavius Winslow.

Of sympathy below;
Luke 1:33
AN ENDLESS KINGDOM
‘He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.’
Luke 1:33
Every attempt at world empire has been struck on the feet by ‘the stone that smote the image’ ( Daniel 2:35), which is Christ; for to Him alone is it given to establish a kingdom that will extend throughout the world.
I. The Kingdom.—The Baptist’s
Luke 24:39 had blessed the children. Those Hands had touched the leper. Those Hands had multiplied the loaves. Those Hands had healed the sick.
II. They were powerful Hands.—The Good Shepherd says of His sheep, ‘No one shall pluck them out of My Hand’ ( John 10:28). May we live day by day upheld by those Hands, and fall at last like tired children into those Everlasting Arms, which are soft as love and stronger than death!
III. They were pierced Hands.—You can tell the true Christ by the holes in His Hands.
1 Corinthians 6:19
DIVINE OWNERSHIP
‘Ye are not your own.’
1 Corinthians 6:19
As Christians we are no longer our own. Jesus has acquired by His blood all rights of ownership over us. This is the great truth I desire to press upon you most earnestly and most affectionately, until it lays hold of your whole natures
Galatians 1:17
ALONE WITH GOD
‘I went into Arabia.’
Galatians 1:17
There is nothing that carries on the soul, and promotes the spiritual life, like secret conversing with God. The great test of every Christian is, what time he can spend in devotion; and, what he is when he is alone with God. How shall we secure
Galatians 3:13
‘REDEEMED FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW’
‘Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us.’
Galatians 3:13
The Cross of Christ sheds light upon some of those darker problems of existence which have from the beginning perplexed the minds of men.
I. One of the most momentous of these questions finds a solution there and not elsewhere. It is this: ‘How shall
Ephesians 5:1-2
THE HIGHEST DIGNITY OF MAN
‘Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us.’
Ephesians 5:1-2
We can follow God in love. In this ability our highest dignity as men resides, because this allies us perfectly to God, as children to a father. Let us look first at some other views of the dignity of man which are more popular.
I. Some discourse
1 Timothy 6:17
GOD OR MAMMON?
‘Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, Who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.’
1 Timothy 6:17
In other words, the Apostle is emphasising the teaching of our Lord, ‘Ye cannot serve God and mammon.’
I. The choice.—Riches, which are indeed uncertain; or ‘the living God,’ Who not only abideth for ever but giveth us richly all things
Hebrews 9:4 carry out the same rule we have observed above, and to take care that the first time it was treated as common bread and common wine the same visible punishment should follow as when His apostles were treated as if they bore no spiritual character. In 1 Corinthians 11:29-30, when St. Paul has to rebuke the Corinthians for profaning the Sacrament, as if it were a mere human institution, he tells them that ‘for this cause many are weak and sickly among you and many sleep’—clearly pointing to some judgment
1 John 3:15
THE SIN OF HATRED
‘Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer.’
1 John 3:15
To hate sin is right. Sin is that which God hates. But God, Who hates the sin, loves the sinner; and even when He punishes, does not punish in haste. God is love; and they who are born of God live in love. The apostle of love in this verse
1 John 3:2
THE MANIFESTATION OF THE SONS OF GOD
‘It doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.’
1 John 3:2
Believers stand to God in an endearing and enduring relationship. Great and glorious are the privileges which believers now enjoy as God’s children, but greater and more glorious privileges are in store for them beyond death and the grave—privileges
