Zephaniah 1:3 — Zephaniah 1:3 A. God will consume man and beast. He describes how Babylon would sweep down over them. B. Even the animal creation affected by man’s sin. (c. Joel 1:18; Hosea 4:3; Jeremiah 12:4) 1:3 fish of the sea This event will be even more catastrophic than the flood, which fish survived. from the face of the earth Forms an inclusio with v. 2.
Zephaniah 3:16 — Zephaniah 3:16 They ... The remnant of v.13, the singers of v.14. Jerusalem ... Zion ... the faithful of God. your hands shall not hang limp Literally “do not let your hands sink.” The inhabitants of Jerusalem should no longer let their hands hang limp in fear (see Isaiah 13:7-8; Jeremiah 6:24).
2 Corinthians 6:16 — John 4:15; Revelation 21:3 and walk among them -- That is, I will walk among them. I will be one of their number. I will be their God -- Not only the God whom they worship, but the God who will protect and bless them. James 5:5 — James 5:5 pleasure and luxury -- After robbing their workers to accumulate their wealth, the rich indulged themselves in an extravagant lifestyle. “Pleasure” has the connotation of wanton pleasure. “Luxury” [often] leads to vice
3 John 1:14 — 3 John 1:14 Shortly see thee -- From verse 10, The third-class condition (ἐὰν ἔλθω, ean elthō) seems to be used by the author to indicate real uncertainty on his part as to whether he will visit Diotrephes’ church or not. But it may be that Gaius would himself be traveling to meet with the writer at some location. Face to face -- Lit. mouth to mouth. (Used to speak face to face (2 John 1:12; 3 John 1:14; Sept. Numbers 12:8 [cf. Jeremiah 32:4]).
