Psalms 128:6 — 6. Long life crowns all other temporal favors. As Psalms 125:5, this Psalm closes with a prayer for peace, with prosperity for God's people.
Psalms 13:5 — 5, 6. Trust is followed by rejoicing in the deliverance which God effects, and, instead of his enemy, he can lift the song of triumph.
Psalms 136:5 — 5, 6. by wisdom—or, "in wisdom" (Psalms 104:24). made—literally, "maker of." above the waters—or, "higher than the waters" (Psalms 104:24- :).
Psalms 3:5 — 5. the Lord sustained me—literally, "will sustain me," as if his language or thought when he laid down, and the reason of his composure.
Psalms 54:5 — 5. He shall . . . evil—or, "Evil shall return on" ( :-) my enemies or watchers, that is, to do me evil ( :-). in thy truth—Thy verified promise.
Psalms 62:9 — 9. No kind of men are reliable, compared with God (Isaiah 2:22; Jeremiah 17:5). altogether—alike, one as the other (Psalms 34:3).
Psalms 67:3 — 3-5. Thanks will be rendered for the blessings of His wise and holy government (compare Isaiah 2:3; Isaiah 2:4; Isaiah 11:4).
Psalms 69:29 — 29. poor and sorrowful—the afflicted pious, often denoted by such terms (compare Psalms 10:17; Psalms 12:5). set me . . . high—out of danger.
Psalms 7:5 — 5. This is the consequence, if such has been his conduct. mine honour—(compare Psalms 3:3; Psalms 4:2) —my personal and official dignity.
Psalms 72:17 — 17. His name—or, "glorious perfections." as long as the sun—(Compare Psalms 72:5). men shall be blessed— (Genesis 12:3; Genesis 18:18).
Psalms 88:5 — 5. Free . . . dead—Cut off from God's care, as are the slain, who, falling under His wrath, are left, no longer sustained by His hand.
Psalms 99:4 — 4, 5. To His wise and righteous government all nations should render honor. king's . . . judgment—His power is combined with justice. he is holy—(compare :-).
Isaiah 1:17 — 17. seek judgment—justice, as magistrates, instead of seeking bribes (Jeremiah 22:3; Jeremiah 22:16). judge—vindicate (Psalms 68:5; James 1:27).
Jeremiah 19:14 — 14. court of the Lord's house—near Tophet; the largest court, under the open air, where was the greatest crowd (2 Chronicles 20:5).
Jeremiah 51:36 — 36. plead . . . cause— ( :-). sea—the Euphrates (Jeremiah 51:13; Jeremiah 50:38). Compare Isaiah 19:5, "sea," that is, the Nile (Isaiah 21:1).
Ezekiel 24:5 — 5. burn . . . bones—rather, "pile the bones." Literally, "Let there be a round pile of the bones." therein—literally, "in the midst of it."
Ezekiel 35:7 — 7. cut off . . . him that passeth—that is, every passer to and fro; "the highways shall be unoccupied" (Ezekiel 29:11; Judges 5:6).
Ezekiel 5:6 — 6. changed . . . into—rather, "hath resisted My judgments wickedly"; "hath rebelled against My ordinances for wickedness" [BUXTORF]. But see on Ezekiel 5:7, end.
Daniel 10:8 — 8. comeliness—literally, "vigor," that is, lively expression and color. into corruption—"deadliness," that is, death-like paleness (Daniel 5:6; Daniel 7:28).
Numbers 33:5 — 5. pitched in Succoth—that is, "booths"—a place of no note except as a temporary halting place, at Birketel-Hadji, the Pilgrim's Pool [CALMET].
