And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous [were they]; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.

Exodus 13:21

Exodus 26:3
The five curtains shall be coupled together one to another; and [other] five curtains [shall be] coupled one to another.
Shall be coupled together. — These curtains were coupled with loops; so should Christians by love. "My dove is but one: the daughters saw her and blessed her." Song of Solomon 6:9 See Ephesians 2:21-22 ; Ephesians 4:16 .
Leviticus 11:11
They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
They shall be even an abomination. — To teach us, that nothing is lawful, no not for our common use, unless it be "sanctified by the word of God and prayer." 1 Timothy 4:5 Acts 10:35
Leviticus 18:8
The nakedness of thy father’s wife shalt thou not uncover: it [is] thy father’s nakedness.
It is thy father’s nakedness. — For "the wife hath not power over her own body, but the husband": 1 Corinthians 7:4 and when her chastity is assaulted, she should say, saith Chrysostom, Non est corpus meum, sed mariti, My body is not mine, but my husband’s.
Leviticus 23:13
And the meat offering thereof [shall be] two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the LORD [for] a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof [shall be] of wine, the fourth [part] of an hin.
Two tenth deals. — This was double to the ordinary proportion, Numbers 15:4 because on such an occasion.
Leviticus 4:26
And he shall burn all his fat upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings: and the priest shall make an atonement for him as concerning his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.

Numbers 23:27
And Balak said unto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee unto another place; peradventure it will please God that thou mayest curse me them from thence.
Peradventure it will please God. — Heb., It will be right in the eyes of God. Never think it, man. "He is not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness." Psalms 5:4
Numbers 24:21
And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.
The Kenites, — i.e., The Midianites, Judges 1:16 ; Judges 4:11 mingled among the Amalekites, 1 Samuel 15:6 for whom they are, and fare the worse, as Hamath did for Damascus. Zechariah 9:2
Numbers 3:10
And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall wait on their priest’s office: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.
And the stranger. — Though a Levite, yet if not of Aaron’s seed. Numbers 18:3 Hebrews 5:4 Let this be thought upon by our too bold intruders into the work of the ministry.
Deuteronomy 28:60

All the diseases of Egypt. — Which what they were, see Exodus 8:2 ; Exodus 8:16 ; Exodus 8:21 ; Exodus 9:3 ; Exodus 9:9 ; Exodus 9:15 ; Exodus 9:18 ; Exodus 10:4 ; Exodus 10:21 ; Exodus 11:5

Deuteronomy 9:2
people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and [of whom] thou hast heard [say], Who can stand before the children of Anak!
The children of Anak. — Hence seems to come the Greek word, Aναξ , for a king; for these great men were looked upon as so many little kings. See Trapp on " Genesis 6:4 "
Joshua 3:11
Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passeth over before you into Jordan.
Behold the ark of the covenant, even the Lord of heaven and earth. — Where the ark is, and where the ordinances are, there God is: hence the ark is called God’s face, Psalms 105:4 yea, God’s self. Psalms 132:5

He mightily oppressed the children of Israel. — See Judges 4:2 . In the Canaanites the same wickedness prospereth that is punished in Israel. Our very profession hurteth us, if we be not innocent.
Judges 6:3
And [so] it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;
And so it was, when Israel had sown. — This was threatened, Deuteronomy 28:14-68 but not believed till it befell them, and the proverb John 4:37 verified, "One soweth, and another reapeth."
