Leviticus 24

Verses 1-23

Leviticus 24:14 Bring forth him that hath cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.

Leviticus 24:14Comments- According to the Mosaic Law a person was set apart for God"s wrath and judgment by the laying on of the witnesses' hands ( Deuteronomy 17:4-7), as opposed to being set apart for God"s service, as was Paul and Barnabas in Acts 13.

Deuteronomy 17:4-7, "And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel:Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die. At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death. The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So thou shalt put the evil away from among you."

Leviticus 24:20 Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a Prayer of Manasseh , so shall it be done to him again.

Leviticus 24:20Old Testament Quotes in the New Testament - Note that the phrase "eye for eye, tooth for tooth" ( Leviticus 24:20) is quoted in Matthew 5:38, "Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:"
