(ehz' bay i) Personal name of unknown meaning. Father of one of David's military leaders (1 Chronicles 11:37 ). The parallel list (1 Samuel 23:35 ) contains a word of similar appearance—”the Arbite.” The Samuel reading may be the original with the Chronicles reading the result of early copying, but no certain decision can be made.
