(hohf' ni uhnd fin' ih huhss) Personal names meaning, “tadpole” and “dark-skinned one” in Egyptian. In 1 Samuel 1:3 , sons of Eli and priests at Shiloh. They were disreputable men who were contemptuous of sacred matters. They were slain in battle against the Philistines (1 Samuel 4:4 ). The news of their deaths precipitated the death of their father Eli (1 Samuel 4:18 ). See Eli; Samuel .
