(nyoo' bih uhnss) Residents of an ancient kingdom along the Nile river in southern Egypt and northern Sudan (Daniel 11:43 , NIV; also NRSV margin). Cushites (REB) designates inhabitants of the same area. Other translations use Ethiopians, which formerly designated people of the same area. Modern Ethiopia lies further to the southeast.
