(sshay uh ray' ihm) Place name meaning, “double doors.” 1. City in tribal territory of Judah (Joshua 15:36 ). Place where David's soldiers pursued Philistine army (1 Samuel 17:52 ). Some would locate it at khirbet esh-Sharia a mile northeast of Azekah. 2. Town where tribe of Simeon lived (1 Chronicles 4:31 ), but the parallel texts read Shilhim (Joshua 15:32 ) and Sharuhen (Joshua 19:6 ). Many scholars think Sharuhen is meant in Chronicles.
