A gate in Jerusalem. Some feel that it may be the gate leading from the king's palace to the Temple spoken of in the account of the murder of Queen Athaliah (2 Kings 11:1 ). In the parallel account (2 Chronicles 23:1 ) the gate is called “the gate of the foundation” (2 Chronicles 23:5 ).
