Hebron (1)
HEBRON (‘association’). 1. The third son of Kohath, known to us only from P [Note: Priestly Narrative.] ( Exodus 6:18 , Numbers 3:19; Numbers 3:27 ) and the Chronicler ( 1 Chronicles 6:2; 1 Chronicles 6:18; 1Ch 15:9; 1 Chronicles 23:12; 1 Chronicles 23:19 ). The Hebronites are mentioned at the census taken in the wilderness of Sinai ( Numbers 3:27 ), and appear again at the later census in the plains of Moab (26:53); cf. also 1Ch 15:9; 1 Chronicles 23:19; 1 Chronicles 26:23; 1 Chronicles 26:30 f. 1 Chronicles 26:2 . A son of Mareshah and father of Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema ( 1 Chronicles 2:42-43 ).
