Virgin, born probably at Trier, c.330;died Milan, 398. She was the sister of Saint Ambrose, who dedicated to her his treatise on virginity. She received the veil from Pope Liberius and fostered the ascetic life among maidens of Rome and Milan. Represented holding a cross in her hand, and receiving the veil from the pope. Buried in the Ambrosian Basilica. Feast, July 17,.
