(c.1331-1381) Virgin, died Vadstena (Vatzen), Sweden. She was the fourth child of Saint Bridget and Ulf Gudmarsson, was educated at the convent of Riseberg, and at the age of 13 was married to a German nobleman, Eggart von Kurnen, with whom she lived in continency. She accompanied her mother to Rome, 1349, was with her in her last illness, and in 1374 brought back her body to Vadstena, of which foundation she now became head. From 1375-1380 she was again in Rome promoting her mother's canonization and in 1379 obtained the confirmation of the Brigittine or Salvatorian Order. Emblems: a hind, lily, pilgrim's costume, cross, and church in hand. Canonized, 1484. Feast, March 22,.
