A son of Barzillai, who supported David while the latter was in exile at Mahanaim. After the death of Absalom, Barzillai was invited to spend the rest of his days with the king; but he declined, and sent his son Chimham instead. In Jeremiah 41:17 mention is made of the camp of Chimham near Bethlehem, from which it would seem that David bestowed upon him some land which passed on to his descendants in his name. This rendering is indicated by the Targum, and is accepted by Rashi and Ḳimḥi (2 Samuel 19:38,39,41; R. V. 37, 38, 40).
