- First son of Judah by Shuah the Canaanite (Genesis 38:3; Numbers 26:19). He died soon after marrying Tamar, because he "was wicked in the sight of the Lord" (Genesis 38:7). What his sin was is explained in Bereshit R. 85:4.
- Son of Shelah, the son of Judah (1 Chronicles 4:21).
- Son of Jose, one of the ancestors of Jesus (Luke 3:28).
