Berean Study Bible
you must not leave the body on the tree overnight, but you must be sure to bury ... him that day, because anyone who is hung on a tree is under God''s curse. You must not defile - the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.
English Standard Version
his body shall not remain all night on the tree but you shall bury him the same day for a hanged man is cursed by God You shall not defile your land that the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance
Holman Christian Standard Version
you are not to leave his corpse on the tree overnight but are to bury him that day, for anyone hung on a tree is under God's curse. You must not defile the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.
King James Version
His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled (8762), which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
Lexham English Bible
his dead body shall not hang on the tree, but certainly you shall bury him on that day, for cursed by God is one that is being hung; so you shall not defile your land that Yahweh your God is giving to you as an inheritance."
New American Standard Version
his corpse shall not hang all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury him on the same day (for he who is hanged is accursed of God), so that you do not defile your land which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance.
World English Bible
his body shall not remain all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury him the same day; for he who is hanged is accursed of God; that you don't defile your land which Yahweh your God gives you for an inheritance.
