לַבְּכֹרָֽה׃

over his brothers

[came] him the chief ruler

but the birthright

וְהַבְּכֹרָ֖ה

[I say] of Reuben

the firstborn

of Israel [were]

שְׁמַֽעְיָ֥ה

pil·nə·’e·ser

פִּלְנְאֶ֖סֶר

of the Reubenites

lā·r·’ū·ḇê·nî.

לָרֽאוּבֵנִֽי׃

And his brothers

by their families

lə·miš·pə·ḥō·ṯāw,

לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֔יו

in the genealogy

bə·hiṯ·ya·ḥêś

בְּהִתְיַחֵ֖שׂ

of their generations

lə·ṯō·lə·ḏō·w·ṯām;

לְתֹלְדוֹתָ֑ם

and Zechariah

ū·zə·ḵar·yā·hū.

וּזְכַרְיָֽהוּ׃

ba·‘ă·rō·‘êr,

And eastward

wə·lam·miz·rāḥ,

וְלַמִּזְרָ֗ח

he inhabited

as the entrance

of the wilderness

their livestock

were multiplied

and in the days

the Hagarites

ha·haḡ·ri·’îm,

הַֽהַגְרִאִ֔ים

and who fell

way·yip·pə·lū

וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ

by their hand

and they dwelled

way·yê·šə·ḇū

וַיֵּשְׁבוּ֙

in their tents

bə·’ā·ho·lê·hem,

בְּאָ֣הֳלֵיהֶ֔ם

lag·gil·‘āḏ.

לַגִּלְעָֽד׃

and the children

over against

dwelled them

ham·miš·neh;

הַמִּשְׁנֶ֑ה

בַּבָּשָֽׁן׃

And their brothers

wa·’ă·ḥê·hem

of the house

of their fathers [were]

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·hem,

אֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֗ם

and Meshullam

ū·mə·šul·lām

וּמְשֻׁלָּ֡ם

the children

’ă·ḇî·ḥa·yil,

of Jeshishai

עַבְדִּיאֵ֣ל

of the house

of their fathers

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām.

And they dwelled

way·yê·šə·ḇū

וַיֵּֽשְׁב֛וּ

בַּגִּלְעָ֥ד

and in her towns

ū·ḇiḇ·nō·ṯe·hā;

וּבִבְנֹתֶ֑יהָ

their borders

tō·wṣ·’ō·w·ṯām.

תּוֹצְאוֹתָֽם׃

these were reckoned by genealogies

הִתְיַחְשׂ֔וּ

and in the days

yā·rā·ḇə·‘ām

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

and the Gadites

[consisting] of valiant

able to bear

and to shoot

and skillful

אַרְבָּעִ֨ים

[were] and four

wə·’ar·bā·‘āh

וְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה

וְשִׁשִּׁ֖ים

And they made

way·ya·‘ă·śū

וַיַּעֲשׂ֥וּ

the Hagarites

ha·haḡ·rî·’îm;

הַֽהַגְרִיאִ֑ים

wə·nō·w·ḏāḇ.

And they were helped

way·yê·‘ā·zə·rū

וַיֵּעָזְר֣וּ

and were delivered

way·yin·nā·ṯə·nū

וַיִּנָּתְנ֤וּ

into their hand them

and the Hagarites

ha·haḡ·rî·’îm,

הַֽהַגְרִיאִ֔ים

še·‘im·mā·hem;

שֶׁ֣עִמָּהֶ֑ם

to God [were]

in the battle

bam·mil·ḥā·māh,

בַּמִּלְחָמָ֔ה

and he was entreated

wə·na‘·tō·wr

וְנַעְתּ֥וֹר

they put their trust

And they took away

וַיִּשְׁבּ֣וּ

their livestock

of their camels

gə·mal·lê·hem

גְּֽמַלֵּיהֶ֞ם

and of sheep

wa·ḥă·miš·šîm

וַחֲמִשִּׁים֙

and of donkeys

wa·ḥă·mō·w·rîm

וַחֲמוֹרִ֖ים

two thousand

there fell down

because [was]

mê·hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm

מֵהָאֱלֹהִ֖ים

ham·mil·ḥā·māh;

הַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה

And they dwelled

way·yê·šə·ḇū

וַיֵּשְׁב֥וּ

in their steads

תַחְתֵּיהֶ֖ם

the captivity

and the children

Baalath-hermon

and to mount

And these [were]

of the house

of their fathers

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām;

and even Epher

we·’ĕ·lî·’êl

wə·‘az·rî·’êl

וְ֠עַזְרִיאֵל

and Jeremiah

wə·yir·mə·yāh

וְיִרְמְיָ֨ה

and Hodaviah

wə·hō·w·ḏaw·yāh

וְהוֹדַוְיָ֜ה

wə·yaḥ·dî·’êl,

וְיַחְדִּיאֵ֗ל

of the house

of their fathers

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯām.

And they transgressed

way·yim·‘ă·lū,

וַיִּֽמְעֲל֔וּ

against the God

of their fathers

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·hem;

אֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֑ם

and went whoring

of the people

mip·pə·nê·hem.

מִפְּנֵיהֶֽם׃

And stirred up

of Tiglath-pileser

פִּלְנֶ֙סֶר֙

and he carried them away

even the Reubenites

lā·r·’ū·ḇê·nî

לָראוּבֵנִ֣י

and the Gadites

wə·lag·gā·ḏî,

and the half

and brought them

and to the river
