And it came to pass

that gathered together

way·yiq·bə·ṣū

וַיִּקְבְּצ֨וּ

the Philistines

פְלִשְׁתִּ֤ים

their armies

ma·ḥă·nê·hem

מַֽחֲנֵיהֶם֙

lə·hil·lā·ḥêm

against Israel

bə·yiś·rā·’êl;

בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

you assuredly

you shall go out me

ḇam·ma·ḥă·neh,

בַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔ה

and your men

wa·’ă·nā·še·ḵā.

וַאֲנָשֶֽׁיךָ׃

your servant

אֲשִֽׂימְךָ֖

וּשְׁמוּאֵ֣ל

and had lamented

way·yis·pə·ḏū-

וַיִּסְפְּדוּ־

and buried him

way·yiq·bə·ru·hū

וַיִּקְבְּרֻ֥הוּ

and even in his own city

ū·ḇə·‘î·rōw;

had put away

those who had familiar spirits

hay·yid·də·‘ō·nîm

הַיִּדְּעֹנִ֖ים

from the land

mê·hā·’ā·reṣ.

And gathered themselves together

way·yiq·qā·ḇə·ṣū

וַיִּקָּבְצ֣וּ

the Philistines

p̄ə·liš·tîm,

פְלִשְׁתִּ֔ים

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

way·ya·ḥă·nū

and together

וַיִּקְבֹּ֤ץ

and they pitched

way·ya·ḥă·nū

וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּ

bag·gil·bō·a‘.

בַּגִּלְבֹּֽעַ׃

of the Philistines

p̄ə·liš·tîm;

פְלִשְׁתִּ֑ים

and he was afraid

and trembled

way·ye·ḥĕ·raḏ

when inquired

וַיִּשְׁאַ֤ל

of the LORD him

ba·ḥă·lō·mō·wṯ

בַּחֲלֹמ֛וֹת

ban·nə·ḇî·’im.

בַּנְּבִיאִֽם׃

to his servants

la·‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw,

a familiar spirit

that I may go

wə·’ê·lə·ḵāh

wə·’eḏ·rə·šāh-

וְאֶדְרְשָׁה־

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ

And his servants

[there is] a women

a familiar spirit

And disguised

way·yiṯ·ḥap·pêś

וַיִּתְחַפֵּ֣שׂ

וַיִּלְבַּשׁ֙

and they came

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

[qā·sō·w·mî-

I pray divine

by the familiar spirit

I shall name

he has cut off

those who have familiar spirits

hay·yid·də·‘ō·nî

הַיִּדְּעֹנִ֖י

מִתְנַקֵּ֥שׁ

בְּנַפְשִׁ֖י

la·hă·mî·ṯê·nî.

לַהֲמִיתֵֽנִי׃

way·yiš·šā·ḇa‘

וַיִּשָּׁ֤בַֽע

to her by the LORD

[As] the LORD

there shall no

to you for this

shall I bring up

and to thee? And he said

and she cried

have you deceived

rim·mî·ṯā·nî

רִמִּיתָ֖נִי

me? for you [are]

thou? And the women

[is] he of? And she said

[is] covered

And perceived

[his] with face

to the ground

and bowed himself

way·yiš·tā·ḥū.

וַיִּשְׁתָּֽחוּ׃

have you disquieted me

hir·gaz·ta·nî

הִרְגַּזְתַּ֖נִי

to bring me up

lə·ha·‘ă·lō·wṯ

And answered

for the Philistines

ū·p̄ə·liš·tîm

וּפְלִשְׁתִּ֣ים ׀

han·nə·ḇî·’im

הַנְּבִיאִם֙

ba·ḥă·lō·mō·wṯ,

בַּ֣חֲלֹמ֔וֹת

therefore I have called

wā·’eq·rā·’eh

וָאֶקְרָאֶ֣ה

that you may make known

lə·hō·w·ḏî·‘ê·nî

לְהוֹדִיעֵ֖נִי

tiš·’ā·lê·nî;

תִּשְׁאָלֵ֑נִי

seeing the LORD

you and has become

And has done

and has tore

for the LORD

ham·mam·lā·ḵāh

הַמַּמְלָכָה֙

out of your hand

mî·yā·ḏe·ḵā,

way·yit·tə·nāh

וַֽיִּתְּנָ֖הּ

it to your neighbor

שָׁמַ֙עְתָּ֙

ba·‘ă·mā·lêq;

has the LORD

and will also deliver

Moreover the LORD

into the hands

of the Philistines

פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים

and tomorrow

[shalt] and your sons

over the army

shall deliver

into the hands

of the Philistines

פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃

Then straightway

on the earth

of the words

do there was

do he had eaten

hal·lā·yə·lāh.

הַלָּֽיְלָה׃

your handmaid

šip̄·ḥā·ṯə·ḵā

שִׁפְחָֽתְךָ֙

bə·qō·w·le·ḵā,

and I have put

and have listened

וָֽאֶשְׁמַע֙

to your words

də·ḇā·re·ḵā,

דִּבַּ֖רְתָּ

to the voice

of your handmaid

šip̄·ḥā·ṯe·ḵā,

שִׁפְחָתֶ֔ךָ

and let me set

wə·’ā·śi·māh

lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā

we·’ĕ·ḵō·wl;

that you may have

on [your] way

בַּדָּֽרֶךְ׃

But he refused

and compelled

way·yip̄·rə·ṣū-

וַיִּפְרְצוּ־

But his servants

and together with

the women him

and he listened

וַיִּשְׁמַ֖ע

to their voice

from the ground

mê·hā·’ā·reṣ,

ham·miṭ·ṭāh.

And the women

wə·lā·’iš·šāh

וְלָאִשָּׁ֤ה

in the house

and she hurried

wat·tə·ma·hêr

and killed it

wat·tiz·bā·ḥê·hū;

וַתִּזְבָּחֵ֑הוּ

wat·tiq·qaḥ-

and kneaded [it]

and did bake

wat·tō·p̄ê·hū

unleavened bread

And she brought [it]

his servants

and they did eat

way·yō·ḵê·lū;

וַיֹּאכֵ֑לוּ

and Then they rose up

way·yā·qu·mū

and went away

way·yê·lə·ḵū

בַּלַּ֥יְלָה
