וַיָּשֻׁ֖בוּ

bî·rū·šā·lim;

בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

בִּיהוּדָֽה׃

and He build

even Bethlehem

’ă·ḏō·w·ra·yim

’ay·yā·lō·wn,

and in Benjamin

ū·ḇə·ḇin·yā·min;

וּבְבִנְיָמִ֑ן

mə·ṣu·rō·wṯ.

And he fortified

the strongholds

ham·mə·ṣu·rō·wṯ;

הַמְּצֻר֑וֹת

wə·’ō·ṣə·rō·wṯ

and in every

several city

[he put] shields

ū·rə·mā·ḥîm,

and made them exceedingly strong them

way·ḥaz·zə·qêm

וַֽיְחַזְּקֵ֖ם

and Benjamin

ū·ḇin·yā·min.

וּבִנְיָמִֽן׃

And the priests

wə·hak·kō·hă·nîm

וְהַכֹּהֲנִים֙

that the Levites

wə·hal·wî·yim,

וְהַלְוִיִּ֔ם

in all [were]

hiṯ·yaṣ·ṣə·ḇū

הִֽתְיַצְּב֥וּ

with him from all

their coasts

For the Levites

their suburbs

miḡ·rə·šê·hem

מִגְרְשֵׁיהֶם֙

and their possession

wa·’ă·ḥuz·zā·ṯām,

וַאֲחֻזָּתָ֔ם

way·yê·lə·ḵū

and Jerusalem

wə·lî·rū·šā·lim;

וְלִֽירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

had cast them off

for Jeroboam

yā·rā·ḇə·‘ām

and his sons

from executing the priesthood

And he ordained

way·ya·‘ă·meḏ-

וַיַּֽעֲמֶד־

of his own for the high

lab·bā·mō·wṯ

and for the devils

wə·laś·śə·‘î·rîm;

וְלַשְּׂעִירִ֑ים

and for the calves

wə·lā·‘ă·ḡā·lîm

וְלָעֲגָלִ֖ים

And after them

wə·’a·ḥă·rê·hem,

וְאַחֲרֵיהֶ֗ם

han·nō·ṯə·nîm

הַנֹּֽתְנִים֙

their hearts

to Jerusalem

yə·rū·šā·lim,

יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם

to sacrifice

of their fathers

’ă·ḇō·w·ṯê·hem.

אֲבוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

so they strengthened

way·ḥaz·zə·qū

וַֽיְחַזְּקוּ֙

way·’am·mə·ṣū

וַֽיְאַמְּצ֛וּ

made Rehoboam

way·yiq·qaḥ-

וַיִּֽקַּֽח־

the daughter

’ă·ḇî·ha·yil

and that bore

And after her

wə·’a·ḥă·re·hā

וְאַחֲרֶ֣יהָ

’aḇ·šā·lō·wm;

אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם

and that bore

way·ye·’ĕ·haḇ

the daughter

’aḇ·šā·lō·wm,

אַבְשָׁל֗וֹם

and his concubines

ū·p̄î·laḡ·šāw,

וּפִ֣ילַגְשָׁ֔יו

šə·mō·w·neh-

and concubines

ū·p̄î·laḡ·šîm

וּפִֽילַגְשִׁ֖ים

and fathered

way·yō·w·leḏ,

ū·šə·mō·w·nāh

וּשְׁמוֹנָ֛ה

וְשִׁשִּׁ֥ים

way·ya·‘ă·mêḏ

וַיַּֽעֲמֵ֨ד

[to be] ruler

among his brothers

he [intended] to make

lə·ham·lî·ḵōw.

לְהַמְלִיכֽוֹ׃

And he dealt wisely

and dispersed

way·yip̄·rōṣ

the countries

and Benjamin

ū·ḇin·yā·min,

וּבִנְיָמִ֗ן

ham·mə·ṣu·rō·wṯ,

הַמְּצֻר֔וֹת

ham·mā·zō·wn

in abundance

And he desired

וַיִּשְׁאַ֖ל
