And it came to pass

הַֽחֲמִישִׁית֙

yə·rū·šā·lim;

יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

they had transgressed

against the LORD

וּמָאתַ֙יִם֙

ū·ḇə·šiš·šîm

וּבְשִׁשִּׁ֥ים

and outside [were]

mim·miṣ·ra·yim,

מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם

the Sukkiims

and the Ethiopians

וְכוּשִֽׁים׃

וַיִּלְכֹּ֛ד

ham·mə·ṣu·rō·wṯ

הַמְּצֻר֖וֹת

yə·rū·šā·lim.

יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

and Shemaiah

ū·šə·ma‘·yāh

וּֽשְׁמַֽעְיָ֤ה

[to] and the princes

were gathered together

yə·rū·šā·lim

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

have forsaken

and therefore have I

way·yik·kā·nə·‘ū

וַיִּכָּנְע֥וּ

Whereupon the princes

and the king

wə·ham·me·leḵ;

וְהַמֶּ֑לֶךְ

and they said

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ

[is] righteous

they humbled themselves

שְׁמַֽעְיָ֧ה ׀

They have humbled

do [therefore] destroy them

אַשְׁחִיתֵ֑ם

but I will grant

wə·nā·ṯat·tî

lip̄·lê·ṭāh,

do be poured out

on Jerusalem

bî·rū·šā·lim

בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

they shall be

his servants

la·‘ă·ḇā·ḏîm;

that they may know

‘ă·ḇō·w·ḏā·ṯî,

עֲב֣וֹדָתִ֔י

and the service

wa·‘ă·ḇō·w·ḏaṯ

of the kingdoms

mam·lə·ḵō·wṯ

of the countries

hā·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ.

הָאֲרָצֽוֹת׃

yə·rū·šā·lim

יְרוּשָׁלִַם֒

and took away

the treasures

of the house

the treasures

and he carried away

also the shields

תַּחְתֵּיהֶ֔ם

and committed

wə·hip̄·qîḏ,

[them] the hands

of the chief

of the guard

haš·šō·mə·rîm,

הַשֹּׁ֣מְרִ֔ים

the entrance

and entered into

and fetched them

ū·nə·śā·’ūm,

וּנְשָׂא֔וּם

and brought them again

we·hĕ·ši·ḇūm

וֶהֱשִׁב֖וּם

when he humbled

ū·ḇə·hik·kā·nə·‘ōw,

וּבְהִכָּֽנְע֗וֹ

of the LORD him

who he would not

do so as not to destroy

לְהַשְׁחִ֖ית

[him] altogether

בִּֽיהוּדָ֔ה

so strengthened himself

way·yiṯ·ḥaz·zêq

וַיִּתְחַזֵּ֞ק

himself in Jerusalem

bî·rū·šā·lim

בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

way·yim·lōḵ;

וַיִּמְלֹ֑ךְ

אַרְבָּעִ֣ים

and [was] one

when he began to reign

bə·mā·lə·ḵōw

in Jerusalem

bî·rū·šā·lim,

בִּֽירוּשָׁלִַ֗ם

of his mother

a [was] Naamah

hā·‘am·mō·nîṯ.

הָֽעַמֹּנִֽית׃

way·yiq·qā·ḇêr

וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר

וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ

in his place

תַּחְתָּֽיו׃
