לִֽיהוֹשָׁפָט֙

on this side Syria

bə·ḥaṣ·ṣō·wn

בְּחַֽצְצ֣וֹן

they in Hazazon-tamar

[is] En-gedi

yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ

יְהוֹשָׁפָ֛ט

and proclaimed

And gathered themselves together

way·yiq·qā·ḇə·ṣū

וַיִּקָּבְצ֣וּ

[help] the LORD

way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ

yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ,

יְהוֹשָׁפָ֗ט

in the assembly

wî·rū·šā·lim

וִירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

in the house

ha·ḥă·ḏā·šāh.

הַחֲדָשָֽׁה׃

of our fathers

אֲבֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙

in the heavens

baš·šā·ma·yim,

בַּשָּׁמַ֔יִם

[not] the kingdoms

mam·lə·ḵō·wṯ

of the nations

hag·gō·w·yim;

and in your hand

ū·ḇə·yā·ḏə·ḵā

[is there not] Power

ū·ḡə·ḇū·rāh,

so that none

lə·hiṯ·yaṣ·ṣêḇ.

לְהִתְיַצֵּֽב׃

[Are] our God

’ĕ·lō·hê·nū,

[who] did drive out

הוֹרַ֙שְׁתָּ֙

the inhabitants

wat·tit·tə·nāh,

וַֽתִּתְּנָ֗הּ

it to the offspring

lə·‘ō·w·lām.

And they dwelled

way·yê·šə·ḇū-

וַיֵּשְׁב֖וּ־

and have build

therein for your name

or pestilence

and in your presence

ū·lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā,

וּלְפָנֶ֔יךָ

in our distress

miṣ·ṣā·rā·ṯê·nū

מִצָּרָתֵ֖נוּ

and then you will hear

wə·ṯō·wō·šî·a‘.

וְתוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃

the children

lə·yiś·rā·’êl

לְיִשְׂרָאֵל֙

when they came

out of the land

mê·‘ă·lê·hem

and destroyed

הִשְׁמִידֽוּם׃

[I say how] reward

lə·ḡā·rə·šê·nū,

לְגָ֣רְשֵׁ֔נוּ

of your possession

mî·yə·ruš·šā·ṯə·ḵā

מִיְּרֻשָּׁתְךָ֖

you have given us to inherit

hō·w·raš·tā·nū.

הֽוֹרַשְׁתָּֽנוּ׃

אֱלֹהֵ֙ינוּ֙

will you not

do will you not judge

wa·’ă·naḥ·nū,

וַאֲנַ֗חְנוּ

their little ones

and their children

ū·ḇə·nê·hem.

וּבְנֵיהֶֽם׃

wə·ya·ḥă·zî·’êl

וְיַחֲזִיאֵ֡ל

of Zechariah

zə·ḵar·yā·hū

זְכַרְיָ֡הוּ

ham·mil·ḥā·māh

הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה

by the cliff

bə·ma·‘ă·lêh

and you shall find

of the brook

of the wilderness

[need] to fight

lə·hil·lā·ḥêm

[battle] set yourselves

hiṯ·yaṣ·ṣə·ḇū

הִתְיַצְּב֣וּ

[still] you and see

the salvation

wî·rū·šā·lim,

וִֽירוּשָׁלִַ֗ם

lip̄·nê·hem,

for the LORD

And bowed his head

yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ

יְהוֹשָׁפָ֛ט

[his] his head with [his] face

to the ground

and the inhabitants

of Jerusalem

yə·rū·šā·lim,

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם

lə·hiš·ta·ḥă·wōṯ

לְהִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֹ֖ת

And stood up

way·yā·qu·mū

from the sons

of the Kohathites

haq·qə·hā·ṯîm

הַקְּהָתִ֖ים

the children

of the Korhites

haq·qā·rə·ḥîm;

הַקָּרְחִ֑ים

lə·mā·‘ə·lāh.

And they rose early

way·yaš·kî·mū

וַיַּשְׁכִּ֣ימוּ

in the morning

and went forth

way·yê·ṣə·’ū

into the wilderness

and as they went forth

yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ,

יְהוֹשָׁפָ֗ט

šə·mā·‘ū·nî,

שְׁמָע֗וּנִי

and you inhabitants

of Jerusalem

yə·rū·šā·lim,

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם

’ĕ·lō·hê·ḵem

so shall you be established

wə·ṯê·’ā·mê·nū,

וְתֵ֣אָמֵ֔נוּ

in His prophets

בִנְבִיאָ֖יו

so shall you prosper

wə·haṣ·lî·ḥū.

וְהַצְלִֽיחוּ׃

when he had consulted

way·yiw·wā·‘aṣ

וַיִּוָּעַץ֙

and he appointed

way·ya·‘ă·mêḏ

mə·šō·ră·rîm

מְשֹֽׁרֲרִים֙

that should praise

ū·mə·hal·lîm

וּֽמְהַֽלְלִ֖ים

as they went

wə·’ō·mə·rîm

וְאֹֽמְרִים֙

[endureth] forever

his covenant loyalty

and to praise

ū·ṯə·hil·lāh,

mə·’ā·rə·ḇîm

מְ֠אָֽרְבִים

the children

against Judah

and they were struck

way·yin·nā·ḡê·p̄ū.

וַיִּנָּגֵֽפוּ׃

and stood up

way·ya·‘am·ḏū

וַ֠יַּֽעַמְדוּ

For the sons

the inhabitants

utterly to slay

lə·ha·ḥă·rîm

ū·lə·haš·mîḏ;

וּלְהַשְׁמִ֑יד

[them] when they had finished

ū·ḵə·ḵal·lō·w·ṯām

וּכְכַלּוֹתָם֙

with the inhabitants

bə·yō·wō·šə·ḇê

בְּיוֹשְׁבֵ֣י

לְמַשְׁחִֽית׃

the watch tower

הַמִּצְפֶּ֖ה

of the wilderness

lam·miḏ·bār;

לַמִּדְבָּ֑ר

and they looked

the multitude

he·hā·mō·wn,

[were] they dead bodies

to the earth

יְהוֹשָׁפָ֣ט

and his people

way·yim·ṣə·’ū

וַיִּמְצְאוּ֩

among them in abundance

and both riches

and with the dead bodies

and that they stripped off

way·naṣ·ṣə·lū

וַיְנַצְּל֥וּ

they could carry away

and they were

וַיִּֽהְי֞וּ

they were three

šə·lō·wō·šāh

in gathering

of the spoil

and on the day

hā·rə·ḇi·‘î,

they assembled

in the valley

they blessed

ham·mā·qō·wm

Then they returned

way·yā·šu·ḇū

וַ֠יָּשֻׁבוּ

wî·rū·šā·lim

וִֽירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙

wî·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ

וִֽיהוֹשָׁפָ֣ט

at their head

yə·rū·šā·lim

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

בְּשִׂמְחָ֑ה

had made them to rejoice

over their enemies

mê·’ō·wy·ḇê·hem.

מֵֽאוֹיְבֵיהֶֽם׃

And they came

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙

to Jerusalem

yə·rū·šā·lim,

יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם

בִּנְבָלִ֥ים

ū·ḇə·ḵin·nō·rō·wṯ

וּבְכִנֹּר֖וֹת

and trumpets

ū·ḇa·ḥă·ṣō·ṣə·rō·wṯ;

וּבַחֲצֹצְר֑וֹת

the kingdoms

mam·lə·ḵō·wṯ

[those] of countries

hā·’ă·rā·ṣō·wṯ;

when they had heard

bə·šā·mə·‘ām

בְּשָׁמְעָ֕ם

that the LORD

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

so was quiet

וַתִּשְׁקֹ֖ט

of Jehoshaphat

yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ;

יְהוֹשָׁפָ֑ט

and gave him rest

וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ

yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ

יְהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט

[he was] thirty

when he began to reign

bə·mā·lə·ḵōw,

וְעֶשְׂרִ֨ים

in Jerusalem

bî·rū·šā·lim,

בִּֽירוּשָׁלִַ֔ם

of his mother

[was] Azubah

the daughter

And he walked

mim·men·nāh;

[that that was] right

in the sight

the high places

hab·bā·mō·wṯ

do taken away

their hearts

of their fathers

’ă·ḇō·ṯê·hem.

אֲבֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

Now the rest

of Jehoshaphat

yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ,

יְהוֹשָׁפָ֔ט

hā·ri·šō·nîm

הָרִאשֹׁנִ֖ים

wə·hā·’a·ḥă·rō·nîm;

וְהָאַחֲרֹנִ֑ים

[are] they written

in the annals

[is] mentioned

of the Kings

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

wə·’a·ḥă·rê·ḵên,

וְאַחֲרֵיכֵ֗ן

join himself

did Jehoshaphat

yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ

יְהוֹשָׁפָ֣ט

very wickedly

la·‘ă·śō·wṯ.

And he joined

way·ḥab·bə·rê·hū

וַיְחַבְּרֵ֣הוּ

himself with him

to make atonement

תַּרְשִׁ֑ישׁ

and they made

way·ya·‘ă·śū

וַיַּעֲשׂ֥וּ

bə·‘eṣ·yō·wn

בְּעֶצְי֥וֹן

Then prophesied

way·yiṯ·nab·bê

וַיִּתְנַבֵּ֞א

’ĕ·lî·‘e·zer

דֹּדָוָ֙הוּ֙

mim·mā·rê·šāh,

מִמָּ֣רֵשָׁ֔ה

yə·hō·wō·šā·p̄āṭ

יְהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט

Because you have joined yourself

kə·hiṯ·ḥab·ber·ḵā

כְּהִֽתְחַבֶּרְךָ֣

’ă·ḥaz·yā·hū,

אֲחַזְיָ֗הוּ

ma·‘ă·śe·ḵā,

And were broken

way·yiš·šā·ḇə·rū

וַיִּשָּׁבְר֣וּ

’o·nî·yō·wṯ,

תַּרְשִֽׁישׁ׃
