when Mordecai

ū·mā·rə·do·ḵay,

וּמָרְדֳּכַ֗י

mā·rə·do·ḵay

וַיִּלְבַּ֥שׁ

and with ashes

into the middle

with sackcloth

and in every

ū·mə·ḏî·nāh,

and his decree

לַיְּהוּדִ֔ים

[וַתְּבֹואֶינָה

(וַ֠תָּבֹואנָה

of So Esther

and her chamberlains

wə·sā·rî·se·hā

וְסָרִיסֶ֙יהָ֙

way·yag·gî·ḏū

וַיַּגִּ֣ידוּ

then grieved

wat·tiṯ·ḥal·ḥal

וַתִּתְחַלְחַ֥ל

was the queen

הַמַּלְכָּ֖ה

and she sent

וַתִּשְׁלַ֨ח

לְהַלְבִּ֣ישׁ

mā·rə·do·ḵay,

and to take away

his sackcloth

do he received

chamberlains

mis·sā·rî·sê

מִסָּרִיסֵ֤י

of [one] of the king

he had appointed

to attend her

lə·p̄ā·ne·hā,

and gave him a command

wat·tə·ṣaw·wê·hū

וַתְּצַוֵּ֖הוּ

mā·rə·do·ḵāy;

[is] and why

so went forth

mā·rə·do·ḵāy;

way·yag·geḏ-

mā·rə·do·ḵay,

had happened

andof the sum

of the money

hak·ke·sep̄,

had promised

[bay·yə·hū·ḏî·yîm

[בַּיְּהוּדִיִּים

for the Jews

(bay·yə·hū·ḏîm

(בַּיְּהוּדִ֖ים

for the destruction

lə·’ab·bə·ḏām.

לְאַבְּדָֽם׃

פַּתְשֶׁ֣גֶן

of the decree

Also he gave

בְּשׁוּשָׁ֤ן

for their destruction

lə·haš·mî·ḏām

לְהַשְׁמִידָם֙

lə·har·’ō·wṯ

and to declare

ū·lə·hag·gîḏ

וּלְהַגִּ֣יד

and to charge

ū·lə·ṣaw·wō·wṯ

וּלְצַוּ֣וֹת

that she should go in

lə·hiṯ·ḥan·nen-

לְהִֽתְחַנֶּן־

and to make request

ū·lə·ḇaq·qêš

וּלְבַקֵּ֥שׁ

mil·lə·p̄ā·nāw

מִלְּפָנָ֖יו

mā·rə·do·ḵāy.

מָרְדֳּכָֽי׃

Again Esther

and gave him command

wat·tə·ṣaw·wê·hū

וַתְּצַוֵּ֖הוּ

mā·rə·do·ḵāy.

מָרְדֳּכָֽי׃

and the people

hap·pə·nî·mîṯ

הַפְּנִימִ֜ית

[there is] one

[him] of his to put to death

shall hold out

that he may live

do been called

נִקְרֵ֙אתִי֙

šə·lō·wō·šîm

שְׁלוֹשִׁ֥ים

And they told

way·yag·gî·ḏū

וַיַּגִּ֣ידוּ

lə·mā·rə·do·ḵāy,

לְמָרְדֳּכָ֔י

Then commanded

mā·rə·do·ḵay

with yourself

ḇə·nap̄·šêḵ,

בְנַפְשֵׁ֔ךְ

that you shall escape

lə·him·mā·lêṭ

more than all

hay·yə·hū·ḏîm.

הַיְּהוּדִֽים׃

For if you altogether

hold your peace

תַּחֲרִישִׁי֮

[then] shall there enlargement

and deliverance

wə·haṣ·ṣā·lāh

for the Jews

lay·yə·hū·ḏîm

לַיְּהוּדִים֙

mim·mā·qō·wm

from another

of your father

shall be destroyed

for such a time

you have come

to the kingdom

lam·mal·ḵūṯ.

לַמַּלְכֽוּת׃

Then commanded

[them] return

mā·rə·do·ḵāy.

מָרְדֳּכָֽי׃

gather together

hay·yə·hū·ḏîm

הַיְּהוּדִ֜ים

that are present

han·nim·ṣə·’îm

הַֽנִּמְצְאִ֣ים

בְּשׁוּשָׁ֗ן

and fast you

and my maidens

wə·na·‘ă·rō·ṯay

וְנַעֲרֹתַ֖י

will I go in

[is] according to the law

wə·ḵa·’ă·šer

’ā·ḇā·ḏə·tî.

אָבָֽדְתִּי׃

so went his way

way·ya·‘ă·ḇōr

וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֖ר

mā·rə·do·ḵāy;

according to all

had commanded
