וַיֶּֽאֱהַב֙

הַֽנַּעֲרָֽ׃

הַיַּלְדָּ֥ה

wə·ya·‘ă·qōḇ

his daughter

now his sons

his livestock

in the field

and held his peace

wə·he·ḥĕ·riš

they had come in

And went out

and the sons

when they heard

kə·šā·mə·‘ām,

כְּשָׁמְעָ֔ם

and were grieved

way·yiṯ·‘aṣ·ṣə·ḇū

וַיִּֽתְעַצְּבוּ֙

hā·’ă·nā·šîm,

הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים

they burned with anger

he had worked

ḇə·yiś·rā·’êl,

בְיִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

the daughter

and this thing

for the soul

of your daughter

bə·ḇit·tə·ḵem,

בְּבִתְּכֶ֔ם

And make you marriages

wə·hiṯ·ḥat·tə·nū

וְהִֽתְחַתְּנ֖וּ

your daughers

bə·nō·ṯê·ḵem

בְּנֹֽתֵיכֶם֙

our daughers

בְּנֹתֵ֖ינוּ

wə·’it·tā·nū

you shall dwell

and the land

wə·hā·’ā·reṣ

lip̄·nê·ḵem,

ū·sə·ḥā·rū·hā,

וּסְחָר֔וּהָ

and get you possessions

wə·hê·’ā·ḥă·zū

וְהֵֽאָחֲז֖וּ

her brothers

in your sight

bə·‘ê·nê·ḵem;

בְּעֵינֵיכֶ֑ם

you shall say

and I will give

wə·’et·tə·nāh,

וְאֶ֨תְּנָ֔ה

according as

you shall say

the young woman

han·na·‘ă·rā

And answered

way·ya·‘ă·nū

way·ḏab·bê·rū;

וַיְדַבֵּ֑רוּ

he had defiled

their sister

And they said

way·yō·mə·rū

וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ

’ă·ḥō·ṯê·nū,

unto another

is uncircumcised

will we consent

Then will we give

wə·nā·ṯan·nū

our daughers

בְּנֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙

your daughers

bə·nō·ṯê·ḵem

בְּנֹתֵיכֶ֖ם

we will take

and we will dwell

wə·yā·šaḇ·nū

וְיָשַׁ֣בְנוּ

and we will become

to be circumcised

lə·him·mō·wl;

then will we take

wə·lā·qaḥ·nū

וְלָקַ֥חְנוּ

our daughter

and we will be gone

wə·hā·lā·ḵə·nū.

וְהָלָֽכְנוּ׃

way·yî·ṭə·ḇū

וַיִּֽיטְב֥וּ

the young man

he had delight

in the daughter

and he [was]

more honorable

of his father

of their city

way·ḏab·bə·rū

וַֽיְדַבְּר֛וּ

of their city

hā·’ă·nā·šîm

הָאֲנָשִׁ֨ים

[are] peaceable

let them dwell

wə·yis·ḥă·rū

וְיִסְחֲר֣וּ

for the land

wə·hā·’ā·reṣ

lip̄·nê·hem;

their daughers

our daughers

בְּנֹתֵ֖ינוּ

will consent

hā·’ă·nā·šîm

הָאֲנָשִׁים֙

be circumcised

bə·him·mō·wl

[are] circumcised

[Shall be] their livestock

and their possessions

wə·qin·yā·nām

וְקִנְיָנָם֙

בְּהֶמְתָּ֔ם

let us consent

and they will dwell

And listened

way·yiš·mə·‘ū

וַיִּשְׁמְע֤וּ

who went out

and was circumcised

way·yim·mō·lū

וַיִּמֹּ֙לוּ֙

that went out

And it came to pass

haš·šə·lî·šî

הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֜י

when they were

bih·yō·w·ṯām

בִּֽהְיוֹתָ֣ם

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

way·ya·har·ḡū

וַיַּֽהַרְג֖וּ

with the edge

of the sword

from the house

and went out

way·yê·ṣê·’ū.

וַיֵּצֵֽאוּ׃

ha·ḥă·lā·lîm,

הַ֣חֲלָלִ֔ים

way·yā·ḇōz·zū

וַיָּבֹ֖זּוּ

they had defiled

their sister

’ă·ḥō·w·ṯām.

their donkeys

ḥă·mō·rê·hem;

חֲמֹרֵיהֶּ֑ם

that which [was]

that which [was]

in the field

their wealth

their little ones

took they captive

way·yā·ḇōz·zū;

וַיָּבֹ֑זּוּ

in the house

you have brought trouble

by making a stench

lə·haḇ·’î·šê·nî

לְהַבְאִישֵׁ֙נִי֙

among the inhabitants

among the Canaanites

bak·kə·na·‘ă·nî

בַּֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖י

and the Perizzites

ū·ḇap·pə·riz·zî;

וּבַפְּרִזִּ֑י

and they shall gather themselves together

wə·ne·’es·p̄ū

וְנֶאֶסְפ֤וּ

wə·hik·kū·nî,

וְהִכּ֔וּנִי

and shall be destroyed

wə·niš·maḏ·tî

וְנִשְׁמַדְתִּ֖י

and my house

And they said

way·yō·mə·rū;

וַיֹּאמְר֑וּ

as with a harlot

haḵ·zō·w·nāh

should he deal with

’ă·ḥō·w·ṯê·nū.

אֲחוֹתֵֽנוּ׃
