יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

and instruction

of understanding

the instruction

and judgment

וּ֝מִשְׁפָּ֗ט

ū·mê·šā·rîm.

וּמֵישָׁרִֽים׃

to the naive

To the youth

and discretion

ū·mə·zim·māh.

וּמְזִמָּֽה׃

[man] will hear

and will increase

wə·yō·w·sep̄

and a man of understanding

wə·nā·ḇō·wn,

to wise counsels

taḥ·bu·lō·wṯ

תַּחְבֻּל֥וֹת

shall attain

To understand

and the interpretation

ū·mə·lî·ṣāh;

and their dark sayings

wə·ḥî·ḏō·ṯām.

וְחִידֹתָֽם׃

[is] the beginning

of knowledge

and instruction

the instruction

of your father

of your mother

[shall be] an ornament

to your head

lə·rō·še·ḵā;

wa·‘ă·nā·qîm,

וַ֝עֲנָקִ֗ים

about your neck

lə·ḡar·gə·rō·ṯe·ḵā.

לְגַרְגְּרֹתֶֽיךָ׃

yə·p̄at·tū·ḵā

do you consent

let us lay wait

let us lurk privately

for the innocent

outside cause

Let us swallow them up

as the engrave

ū·ṯə·mî·mîm,

וּ֝תְמִימִ֗ים

as those who go

כְּי֣וֹרְדֵי

We shall find

we shall fill

gō·w·rā·lə·ḵā

גּ֭וֹרָ֣לְךָ

bə·ṯō·w·ḵê·nū;

בְּתוֹכֵ֑נוּ

We shall all

lə·ḵul·lā·nū.

לְכֻלָּֽנוּ׃

from their path

min·nə·ṯî·ḇā·ṯām.

מִנְּתִיבָתָֽם׃

wî·ma·hă·rū,

וִֽ֝ימַהֲר֗וּ

In the sight

for their own blood

ye·’ĕ·rō·ḇū;

they lurk privately

יִ֝צְפְּנ֗וּ

[own] for their lives

lə·nap̄·šō·ṯām.

לְנַפְשֹׁתָֽם׃

that is greedy

of its possessors

[which] takes away

in the street

in the square

bā·rə·ḥō·ḇō·wṯ,

בָּ֝רְחֹב֗וֹת

she utters her

place of concourse

hō·mî·yō·wṯ,

in the openings

of the gates

in the city her

will you love

תְּֽאֵהֲב֫וּ

and the scorners

in their scorning

ū·ḵə·sî·lîm,

וּ֝כְסִילִ֗ים

to my reproof

lə·ṯō·w·ḵaḥ·tî

לְֽת֫וֹכַחְתִּ֥י

I will pour out

I will make known

I have called

and you refused

wat·tə·mā·’ê·nū;

וַתְּמָאֵ֑נוּ

I have stretched out

But you have set at naught

wat·tip̄·rə·‘ū

וַתִּפְרְע֥וּ

and of my reproof

wə·ṯō·w·ḵaḥ·tî,

וְ֝תוֹכַחְתִּ֗י

at your calamity

bə·’ê·ḏə·ḵem

בְּאֵידְכֶ֣ם

when your fear

p̄aḥ·də·ḵem.

פַחְדְּכֶֽם׃

[ḵə·ša·’ă·wāh

like a storm

(ḵə·šō·w·’āh

When your fear

פַּחְדְּכֶ֗ם

and your destruction

wə·’ê·ḏə·ḵem

וְֽ֭אֵידְכֶם

as a whirlwind

when distress

shall they call on me

yiq·rā·’un·nî

יִ֭קְרָאֻנְנִי

they shall seek me early

yə·ša·ḥă·run·nî,

יְ֝שַׁחֲרֻ֗נְנִי

but they shall

yim·ṣā·’un·nî.

יִמְצָאֻֽנְנִי׃

and the fear

of my counsel

la·‘ă·ṣā·ṯî;

they despised

tō·w·ḵaḥ·tî.

תּוֹכַחְתִּֽי׃

Therefore shall they eat

וְֽ֭יֹאכְלוּ

of the fruit

of their own way

and with their own devices

ū·mim·mō·‘ă·ṣō·ṯê·hem

וּֽמִמֹּעֲצֹ֖תֵיהֶ֣ם

יִשְׂבָּֽעוּ׃

the waywardness

of the simple

shall slay them

תַּֽהַרְגֵ֑ם

and the prosperity

shall destroy

tə·’ab·bə·ḏêm.

תְּאַבְּדֵֽם׃

But whoever listens

and shall be quiet

wə·ša·’ă·nan,

וְ֝שַׁאֲנַ֗ן

from the dread
