σαββατισμός, σαββατισμου, (σαββατίζω to keep the sabbath);

1. a keeping sabbath.

2. the blessed rest from toils and troubles looked for in the age to come by the true worshippers of God and true Christians (R. V. sabbath rest): Hebrews 4:9. (Plutarch, de superstit. c. 3; ecclesiastical writings.)

";measure of corn,"; ";allowance of corn"; (Luke 12:42) occurs several times in Petrie papyri, e.g. III. 87 (a) recto.17 (iii/B.C.) κατὰ τὴν σιτομετρίαν ib. 140 (b).4, ib. 141.15. See also Deissmann LAE2 p. 104 n..1, where reference is made to an Opramoas inscr. of A.D. 149 at Rhodiapolis in Lycia, with the spelling σειτομέτριον.

For the subst. σιτομέτρης cf. P Flor II. 162.5 (iii/A.D.) διὰ τοῦ δο ̣υ ̣̑ σ [ι ]τ ̣ομέτρου, and Preisigke 1485 (a mummy tablet) Σισῶτος σιτομέτρης ἐβίωσεν ξ ̄, and for the verb, as in Genesis 47:12, see IG XII. vii. 515.70.
