1. upper in point of place, inland (v. ἄνω (B) A. 11.1f), Acts 19:1.

2. of a medicine, given by the mouth, τροχίσκος Archig. ap. Aët. 9.42, cf. Cass.Fel. 48.

II τὸ -κόν medicine which takes effect upwards, emetic, Hp. Superf. 29, Gal. 10.969.

ἀνωτερικός, ἀνωτερικη, ἀνωτερικον (ἀνώτερος), upper: τά ἀνωτερικά μέρη, Acts 19:1 (i. e. the part of Asia Minor more remote from the Mediterranean, farther east). (The word is used by (Hippocrates and) Galen.)
