חֹלֶד m. a mole [“weasel, so called from its swift gliding motion, or from its gliding into holes; comp. Syr. ܚܠܰܕ to insinuate oneself. So Vulg., Targ. Jon., and so Talmud חולדה.”], Leviticus 11:29. (Syr. ܚܘܽܠܕܐܳ, Arabic خُلْدُ, كُلْدُ a mole). See Bochart, Hieroz. t.i.p. 1022. Oedmann, Verm. Sammlungen aus der Naturkunde, ii. p. 50.
