עוּב not used in Kal, i.q. עוּף No. 3, to wrap round, to cover with darkness.

Hiphil, to cover with darkness; metaph. to pender ignoble, to treat with indignity; Lamentations 2:1, “how hath the Lord in his anger covered the daughter of Zion with darkness;” LXX. ἐγνόφωσεν. (Syr. Aph. to obscure, but Pael ܥܰܝܶܒ metaph. to contemn, to treat with indignity, عاب Med. Ye, to disgrace.)
