(1)  strong, vehement, spoken of a people, Numbers 13:28 of a wind, Exodus 14:21 of the waves, Nehemiah 9:11; Isaiah 43:16 of anger, Genesis 49:7; Proverbs 21:14.

(2) strong, fortified, Numbers 21:24.

(3) harsh, cruel, hard, of a king, Isaiah 19:4 עַז־ פָּנִים hard of face, i.e. impudent, shameless, Deuteronomy 28:50; Daniel 8:23.
