צָבוּעַ m. ἄπ. λεγόμ. Jeremiah 12:9, hyena, i.q. Arab. ضَبُعُ. LXX. ὕαινα. Others take it generally as a rapacious animal, compare Talmud, צְבוֹעִים, Arab. سباع rapacious animals. See Bochart, Hieroz. part i. p. 829. Root צָבַע No. II.
