אֵצֶל with suff. אֶצְלִי m.
(1) a side, i.q. אָצִיל No. 1, so called from joining together (see the root No. 1). 1 Samuel 20:41, מֵאֵצֶל הַנֶּגֶב “from the south side;” מֵאֵצֶל פ “from one’s side,” 1 Kings 3:20, and i.q. at any one’s side (see מִן No. 3 ), Ezekiel 40:7. Far more frequently
(2) prep. at the side, near, juxta (which is itself a jungendo), Genesis 41:3; Leviticus 1:16, 6:3 10:12 1 Samuel 5:2, 20:19. It is joined also with verbs of motion to a place, Genesis 39:10; 2 Chronicles 28:15.
