רָהִיט m., carved or fretted ceiling, so called from the hollows in it like troughs (compare LXX. φάτνωμα from φάτνη, a manger). Song of Solomon 1:17 קרי, רָהִיטֵנוּ; a few MSS. have the plur. רְהִיטֵינוּ Vulg. laquearia. In כתיב there is רָחִיטִים which see.
