Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

אַרְיֵה i.q. אֲרִי (with ־ֵה parag. as in אֵשׁ and אִשֶּׁה), and also of more frequent use, but only found in sing. a lion. Genesis 49:9; Deuteronomy 33:22; Judges 14:8 used of a powerful and fierce enemy, Isaiah 15:9; Jeremiah 4:7; Isaiah 21:8, וַיִּקְרָא אַרְיֵה “and he cried as a lion;” compare Revelation 10:3.
