Vocabulary of the Greek NT

";rise early,"; takes the place of the classical ὀρθρεύω in Biblical Greek (except in Tobit 9:6 B) : see Luke 21:38 and the LXX saepe. According to Thumb (Hellen. p. 123) the dependence of the verb on the Heb. הִשְׁבִּים in the sense of ";rise early"; is very improbable, and reference is made to such analogous verbs in MGr as νυχτορεύω, ";work throughout the night,"; and μεσημεριάζω, ";do something at midday.";
