b. diligently: 2 Timothy 1:17 L T Tr WH; Titus 3:13; earnestly, Luke 7:4.

1. with haste or zeal, i.e. earnestly, zealously, diligently: Luke 7:4, 2 Timothy 1:17, Titus 3:13; compar., -οτέρως , Philippians 2:28 (RV, Lft., Weymouth, al., but v. infr.).

2. hastily, speedily: compar., -οτέρως , Philippians 2:28 (Thayer, Zorell, s.v.; ICC, in l, al., but v. supr.).†

Vocabulary of the Greek NT

";a fig-mulberry"; (Luke 19:4), to be distinguished from συκάμινος (Luke 17:6), ";a mulberry."; Hobart (p. 152) thinks that the distinction may be due to Luke’s medical knowledge, seeing that both trees were used medicinally. For the spelling -έα for -αία, cf. Moulton Gr. ii. p. 81.
