Gesenius' Hebrew and Chaldee Definition

חֹמֶץ m. vinegar, Numbers 6:3; Ruth 2:14; Psalms 69:22. Ὄμφαξ is the rendering of the old versions, Ps. loc. cit., and Proverbs 10:26 and this is defended by Michaëlis, in Suppl. p. 828; but the common rendering is not unsuitable to any of the passages [and we know that vinegar is the meaning in Psalms 69:22 ].
