Hebr. יָרַד, in the Old Test. only found in poetry (perhaps a secondary root springing from the noun נַחַת); Jerem. 21:13, מִי־יֵחַת עָלֵינוּ “who shall come down against us?” who shall oppose us? Psalms 38:3, וַתִּנְחַת עָלַי יָדֶֽךָ “and thy hand came down upon me,” chastising me; plur. יֵחַתּוּ Job 21:13, for יֵחָתוּ with Dag. euphon.; compare Lehrg. p. 85. Trop. Proverbs 17:10, תֵּחַת גְּעָרָה בְמֵבִין “correction goes down into (the mind of) the prudent” comp. Proverbs 18:8, 26:22 ); תֵּחַת is penacute; comp. Lehrg. § 51, 1, note 1.
Niphal נִחַת i.q. Kal Psalms 38:3, כִּי־חִצֶּיךָ נִחֲתוּ בִי “for thy arrows come down upon me,” they pierce me.
