so that he who blesses himself in the land shall bless himself by the God of truth, and he who takes an oath in the land shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten and are hidden from my eyes.

Shall I bring to the point of birth and not cause to bring forth?" says the Lord ; "shall I, who cause to bring forth, shut the womb?" says your God.

Then I said, "Ah, Lord God ! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth."

Have you not brought this upon yourself by forsaking the Lord your God, when he led you in the way?

Your evil will chastise you, and your apostasy will reprove you. Know and see that it is evil and bitter for you to forsake the Lord your God; the fear of me is not in you, declares the Lord God of hosts.

Though you wash yourself with lye and use much soap, the stain of your guilt is still before me, declares the Lord God .

Only acknowledge your guilt, that you rebelled against the Lord your God and scattered your favors among foreigners under every green tree, and that you have not obeyed my voice, declares the Lord .

A voice on the bare heights is heard, the weeping and pleading of Israel's sons because they have perverted their way; they have forgotten the Lord their God.

"Return, O faithless sons; I will heal your faithlessness." "Behold, we come to you, for you are the Lord our God.

Truly the hills are a delusion, the orgies on the mountains. Truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel.

Let us lie down in our shame, and let our dishonor cover us. For we have sinned against the Lord our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day, and we have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God."

Then I said, "Ah, Lord God , surely you have utterly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, ‘It shall be well with you,' whereas the sword has reached their very life."

Then I said, "These are only the poor; they have no sense; for they do not know the way of the Lord , the justice of their God.

I will go to the great and will speak to them, for they know the way of the Lord , the justice of their God." But they all alike had broken the yoke; they had burst the bonds.

Therefore thus says the Lord , the God of hosts: "Because you have spoken this word, behold, I am making my words in your mouth a fire, and this people wood, and the fire shall consume them.

And when your people say, ‘Why has the Lord our God done all these things to us?' you shall say to them, ‘As you have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your land, so you shall serve foreigners in a land that is not yours.'"

They do not say in their hearts, ‘Let us fear the Lord our God, who gives the rain in its season, the autumn rain and the spring rain, and keeps for us the weeks appointed for the harvest.'

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Amend your ways and your deeds, and I will let you dwell in this place.

Therefore thus says the Lord God : Behold, my anger and my wrath will be poured out on this place, upon man and beast, upon the trees of the field and the fruit of the ground; it will burn and not be quenched."

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: "Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices, and eat the flesh.
