But if you do not surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon, then this city will be handed over to the Chaldeans. They will burn it down, and you yourself will not escape their grasp.'"

But King Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, "I am afraid of the Jews who have deserted to the Chaldeans, for the Chaldeans may hand me over to them to abuse me."

But if you refuse to surrender, this is the word that the LORD has shown me:

But the army of the Chaldeans pursued them and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. They seized him and brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he pronounced judgment on him.

But Nebuzaradan left behind in the land of Judah some of the poor people, who had no property, and at that time he gave them vineyards and fields.

But I will deliver you on that day, declares the LORD, and you will not be handed over to the men you fear.

But before Jeremiah turned to go, Nebuzaradan told him, "Return to Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has appointed over the cities of Judah, and stay with him among the people, or go anywhere else that seems right." Then the captain of the guard gave him a ration and a gift and released him.

and said to him, "Are you aware that Baalis king of the Ammonites has sent Ishmael son of Nethaniah to take your life?" But Gedaliah son of Ahikam did not believe them.

But Gedaliah son of Ahikam said to Johanan son of Kareah, "Do not do such a thing! What you are saying about Ishmael is a lie."

But ten of the men among them said to Ishmael, "Do not kill us, for we have hidden treasure in the field-wheat, barley, oil, and honey!" So he refrained from killing them with the others.

But Ishmael son of Nethaniah and eight of his men escaped from Johanan and went to the Ammonites.

But if you say, 'We will not stay in this land,' and so disobey the voice of the LORD your God,

and if you say, 'No, but we will go to the land of Egypt and live there, where we will not see war, or hear the sound of the trumpet, or hunger for food,'

For I have told you today, but you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD your God in all He has sent me to tell you.

But they did not listen or incline their ears; they did not turn from their wickedness or stop burning incense to other gods.

But from the time we stopped burning incense to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been perishing by sword and famine."

But as for you, do you seek great things for yourself? Stop seeking! For I will bring disaster on every living creature, declares the LORD, but wherever you go I will grant your life as plunder."

Egypt is a beautiful heifer, but a gadfly from the north is coming against her.

I will hand them over to those who seek their lives-to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and his officers. But after this, Egypt will be inhabited again as in ancient times, declares the LORD.
