This is what the Lord GOD says: 'Because you poured out your wealth and exposed your nakedness in your promiscuity with your lovers and with all your detestable idols, and because of the blood of your children which you gave to them,

You are the daughter of your mother, who despised her husband and children. You are the sister of your sisters, who despised their husbands and children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite.

In the wilderness I said to their children: "Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers or keep their ordinances or defile yourselves with their idols.

But the children rebelled against Me. They did not walk in My statutes or carefully observe My ordinances-though the man who does these things will live by them-and they profaned My Sabbaths. So I resolved to pour out My wrath upon them and vent My anger against them in the wilderness.

For they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands; they have committed adultery with their idols. They have even sacrificed their children, whom they bore to Me, in the fire as food for their idols.

On the very day they slaughtered their children for their idols, they entered My sanctuary to profane it. Yes, this they did inside My house.

Yes, I will cause My people Israel to walk upon you; they will possess you, and you will be their inheritance, and you will no longer deprive them of their children.'

For this is what the Lord GOD says: 'Because people say to you, "You devour men and deprive your nation of its children,"

therefore you will no longer devour men or deprive your nation of its children, declares the Lord GOD.

They will live in the land that I gave to My servant Jacob, where your fathers lived. They will live there forever with their children and grandchildren, and My servant David will be their prince forever.

You shall allot it as an inheritance for yourselves and for the foreigners who dwell among you and who have children. You are to treat them as native-born Israelites; along with you, they shall be allotted an inheritance among the tribes of Israel.

At the command of the king, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought and thrown into the den of lions-they and their children and wives. And before they had reached the bottom of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.

When the LORD first spoke to Hosea, He told him, "Go, take a prostitute as your wife and have children of adultery, because this land is flagrantly prostituting itself by departing from the LORD."

I will have no compassion on her children because they are the children of adultery.

Hear the word of the LORD, O children of Israel, for the LORD has a case against the inhabitants of the land: There is no truth, no loving devotion, and no knowledge of God in the land!

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you as My priests. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

They have been unfaithful to the LORD; for they have borne illegitimate children. Now the New Moon will devour them along with their land.

Even if they raise their children, I will bereave them of each one. Yes, woe be to them when I turn away from them!

I have seen Ephraim, like Tyre, planted in a meadow. But Ephraim will bring out his children for slaughter.

Ephraim is struck down; their root is withered; they cannot bear fruit. Even if they bear children, I will slay the darlings of their wombs.
