So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, everyone on the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the broad place of the water gate, and in the broad place of the gate of Efrayim.

and found his heart faithful before you, and mad a covenant with him to give the land of the Kana`ani, the Hittite, the Amori, and the Perizzi, and the Yevusi, and the Girgashi, to give it to his seed, and have performed your words; for you are righteous.

and shown signs and wonders on Par`oh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land; for you knew that they dealt proudly against them, and did get you a name, as it is this day.

They joined with their brothers, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God's law, which was given by Moshe the servant of God, and to observe and do all the mitzvot of the LORD our Lord, and his ordinances and his statutes;

Now these are the chiefs of the province who lived in Yerushalayim: but in the cities of Yehudah lived everyone in his possession in their cities, [to wit], Yisra'el, the Kohanim, and the Levites, and the temple servants, and the children of Shlomo's servants.

The residue of Yisra'el, of the Kohanim, the Levites, were in all the cities of Yehudah, everyone in his inheritance.

Moreover the Levites: Yeshua, Binnui, Kadmi'el, Sherevyah, Yehudah, [and] Mattanyah, who was over the thanksgiving, he and his brothers.

and his brothers, Shemayah, and `Azar'el, Milalai, Gilalai, Ma`ai, Netan'el, and Yehudah, Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God; and Ezra the Sofer was before them.

They kept the charge of their God, and the charge of the purification, and [so did] the singers and the porters, according to the mitzvah of David, and of Shlomo his son.

I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them; so that the Levites and the singers, who did the work, were fled everyone to his field.

Did not Shlomo king of Yisra'el sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, and he was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Yisra'el: nevertheless even him did foreign women cause to sin.

Thus cleansed I them from all foreigners, and appointed charges for the Kohanim and for the Levites, everyone in his work;

that in those days, when the king Achashverosh sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the palace,

in the third year of his reign, he made a feast to all his princes and his servants; the power of Paras and Madai, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him;

when he shown the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honor of his excellent majesty many days, even one hundred eighty days.

The drinking was according to the law; none could compel: for so the king had appointed to all the officers of his house, that they should do according to every man's pleasure.

But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king's mitzvah by the chamberlains: therefore was the king very angry, and his anger burned in him.

When the king's decree which he shall make shall be published throughout all his kingdom (for it is great), all the wives will give to their husbands honor, both to great and small.
