"For the cause of the oppressed and for the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the LORD. "I will bring safety to him who yearns."

For the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?

I will sing to the LORD, for He has been good to me.

For the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt; their acts are vile. There is no one who does good.

There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is in the company of the righteous.

A Miktam of David. Preserve me, O God, for in You I take refuge.

As for the saints in the land, they are the excellence in whom all my delight resides.

For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay.

As for the deeds of men-by the word of Your lips I have avoided the ways of the violent.

I call on You, O God, for You will answer me. Incline Your ear to me; hear my words.

like a lion greedy for prey, like a young lion lurking in ambush.

As for me, I will behold Your face in righteousness; when I awake, I will be satisfied with Your presence.

For the choirmaster. Of David the servant of the LORD, who sang this song to the LORD on the day the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: I love You, O LORD, my strength.

In my distress I called upon the LORD and I cried to my God for help. From His temple He heard my voice, and my cry for His help reached His ears.

He rescued me from my powerful enemy and from foes too mighty for me.

For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not wickedly departed from my God.

For all His ordinances are before me; I have not disregarded His statutes.

For You save an afflicted people, but You humble those with haughty eyes.

For You, O LORD, light my lamp; my God enlightens my darkness.

For in You I can charge an army, and with my God I can scale a wall.
