He was not the Light, but he came to bear witness about the Light.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,

who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

And he confessed and did not deny, but confessed, "I am not the Christ."

John answered them, saying, "I baptize with water, but among you stands One whom you do not know.

I did not know Him, but so that He might be manifested to Israel, I came baptizing with water."

And I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘The One upon whom you see the Spirit descending and abiding on Him, this is the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'

Now when the headwaiter tasted the water which had become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter *called the bridegroom,

and *said to him, "Every man serves the good wine first, and when the people have drunk freely, then the inferior wine; but you have kept the good wine until now."

But He was speaking about the sanctuary of His body.

But Jesus, on His part, was not entrusting Himself to them, for He knew all men,

The wind blows where it wishes and you hear its sound, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who has been born of the Spirit."

And no one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been done by God."

You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,' but, ‘I have been sent ahead of Him.'

He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. So this joy of mine has been made full.

He must increase, but I must decrease.

He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."
