But if our unrighteousness demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unjust who inflicts wrath? (I speak as a man.)

Certainly not! For then how will God judge the world?

For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.

"There is no fear of God before their eyes." Psalms 36:1 ">[fn]

Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets,

even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all [fn] who believe. For there is no difference;

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,

Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also,

since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.

For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.

For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." Genesis 15:6">[fn]

just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works:

(as it is written, "I have made you a father of many nations" Genesis 17:5 ">[fn] ) in the presence of Him whom he believed--God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;

He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have [fn] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
