Elijah answered them, "If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and destroy you and your fifty men." Then the fire of God came down from heaven and destroyed him and his fifty men.

When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, "Ask what I should do for you before I am taken from you." And Elisha said, "I ask you, let twice the share of your spirit be upon me."

Elijah said, "You have asked a hard thing. But if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be given to you. But if not, it will not be so."

Then he went and sent word to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, "The king of Moab has turned against me. Will you go with me to fight against Moab?" And Jehoshaphat said, "I will go. I am as you are. My people are as your people. My horses are as your horses."

When the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his clothes and said, "Am I God, to kill and to make alive? Is this why this man sends word to me to heal a man's bad skin disease? Think about it. He wants to start a fight with me."

Then Jehu said, "Come with me and see how glad I am to work for the Lord." And he had him go in his war-wagon.

So Ahaz sent men with news to King Tiglath-pileser of Assyria, saying, "I am your servant and your son. Come up and save me from the king of Syria and the king of Israel. They are fighting against me."

the Lord, the God of Israel, says, ‘See, I am bringing such trouble upon Jerusalem and Judah, that the ears of whoever hears it will be painful.

Now when David lived in his house, he said to Nathan the special preacher, "See, I am living in a house of cedar wood. But the special box with the Law of the Lord is under a tent."

Then King David went in and sat before the Lord, and said, "Who am I, O God? What is my house, that You have brought me this far?

David said to Gad, "I am in much trouble. Let me fall into the hand of the Lord. For His loving-kindness is very great. But do not let me fall into the hand of man."

David said to God, "Was it not I who said that the people must be numbered? I am the one who has sinned and done a very bad thing. But what have these sheep done? O Lord my God, I beg You, let Your hand be against me and my father's house. But do not let the trouble be upon Your people."

"But who am I and who are my people, that we should be able to give so much? For all things come from You. We have given You only what already belongs to You.

See, I am about to build a house for the name of the Lord my God. I will set it apart for Him. There special perfume will be burned before Him. The holy bread will be there all the time. Burnt gifts will be given morning and evening, on Days of Rest, on new moons, and during the special suppers of the Lord our God. This is to be done forever in Israel.

The house I am about to build will be great. For our God is greater than all the gods.

But who is able to build a house for Him? For the heavens and the highest heavens are not big enough to hold Him. So who am I, that I should build a house for Him, except as a place to burn special perfume before Him?

King Ahab of Israel said to King Jehoshaphat of Judah, "Will you go with me against Ramoth-gilead?" He answered, "I am as you are. And my people are as your people. We will be with you in the battle."

But a certain man happened to shoot an arrow and hit the king of Israel in a joint of the battle-clothes. So the king said to the man on the war-wagon, "Turn around, and take me out of the battle. For I am hurt."
